Frequently Asked Questions

Please read the FAQs carefully before contacting us. However, if there is any doubt even after reading the FAQs, do not hesitate to email us.

Q) What are the ‘Socials’ and why are we being charged extra for the same?

A) The ‘Socials’ means (in simple terms) the after-conference party. It is at a nice venue, and shall include snacks, dinner and drinks.

You are not being charged “extra” for the socials – initially the registration fee was Rs.3,000 ($65), inclusive of the party. However, since we assumed there would be some delegates who do not wish to attend the party, we decided to charge separately for the registration and the party. Therefore, you are being charged only Rs.2,350 ($50) for the conference and Rs.650 ($15) for the party.

We would recommend that you attend the Socials. It is a great way to get to know the other delegates (student or otherwise) and generally have a blast after all the hard work! We will provide the transport from the conference venue to and from the venue of the party.

Q) Does selection of the abstract mean the final paper has also been selected?

A) Yes. If you have received an email confirming the selection of your abstract, your presentation at the conference is confirmed, provided you send in your full length paper and registration forms on time.

Please note however, the selection is for the presentation only, and NOT for publication. Only the best papers will be published, and this shall be notified to you after the conference.

Q) How do we attend the conference?

A) The deadline for sending in abstracts is over. If you did not send in an abstract (or your abstract did not get selected for presentation) you may still attend the conference. You will still need to register though. Visit the registration page for details.

Those whose abstracts have been shortlisted, are to do the following:

Send in your full length papers by July 1, 2009.

Indian delegates are to pay the registration fee and ensure their registration form reaches us (by email) by July 1, 2009.

Foreign delegates are to only fill in their registration forms and email the same to us by June 25, 2009. They are not to make any payments now. Their registration fee will be collected at the conference venue itself.

Q) How do we register for the conference?

A) Please visit the registration page. The procedure is different for Indian delegates and foreign delegates – Indian delegates must make the payment beforehand (via Demand Draft or bank transfer) while foreign delegates are to make the payment on the spot.

Both – Indian and foreign delegates are to send in their registration forms before their deadlines.

Q) Will ILSA or NUJS sponsor our travel/accommodation, etc?

A) No. Unfortunately, due to our own restrictions in the budget, we are not able to provide any kind of sponsorship to anyone.

We are however providing assistance in any way possible – for example, we are providing accommodation at subsidized rates (visit the accommodation page), and we will be providing lunch on all the days of the conference at the venue.

For any other assistance related to financial assistance please email us.

Q) What is the format of the full length paper?

A) The full length paper must be up to 15 pages in length with double spacing (approximately 3,500 words). It should clearly state the title, the authors (with their affiliations) on the first page itself. The paper submitted to us must be complete will all endnotes. Footnotes may be used, but please use only endnotes for citing sources.
